《笑傲江湖》、《射雕英雄传》、《天龙八部》、《神雕侠侣》连续几部金庸剧的拍摄，张纪中俨然成了中国内地 武侠片方面的领军人物。张纪中又一金庸第五部电视剧《碧血剑》英文字幕版DVD终于登场。《碧血剑》乃金庸 早期的作品，对张纪中来说，之所以选择这部小说，完全是因为连续拍了几部宋朝背景的金庸剧，与以往的金庸剧 有不同的感觉，再加上这个故事本身非常有吸引力。由于原着《碧血剑》的人物群落很复杂，线索也非常多，要改编成36集的电视剧必须有所改变。相比之前《碧血 剑》的几个电视剧版本，张纪中改编的《碧血剑》的特技镜头也不如《天龙八部》多，不像《神雕侠侣》那样注重 浪漫，但新版会侧重于历史的叙事，循历史真实感。剧中另一特别之处，乃张纪中把书中袁崇焕和夏雪宜这两个早 已死去的人物「复活」，让袁崇焕存在于袁承志的心灵感受和想象之中，并且让夏雪宜直接出场露面，成为电视剧 中的一个真实的人物。
片中由《功夫》星女郎黄圣依扮演《碧血剑》的侠女温青青，孙菲菲则演阿九、窦智孔(袁承志)等。至于投资创 作成本，则高达每集200万元，而制作队更在武夷山开机半个多月取景。
