Idiot of the day: stealing money from your wife …

… by putting fake bills in her purse. She got discovered, he got yelled at, and then came forward.

A trucker who counterfeited 10,000-yen notes and secretly swapped real notes in his wife’s purse with the fake bills because he wanted money to go out for a drink has been arrested, police said.

Masahiro Fujiwara, 47, a truck driver living in Ome, western Tokyo, stands accused of counterfeiting currency and using fake bills.

He reluctantly turned himself in to police after he was grilled by his wife, who suspected that the bills in her purse were fake, according to investigators.

“I did it because I was short of money to go out for a drink,” Fujiwara was quoted as telling investigators.

Fujiwara used a color copy machine at his home to produce about 10 fake 10,000-yen bills in June last year, local police said.

He then replaced 10,000 yen notes in his wife’s purse with the fake ones. The wife used two of the bills at a fast food store and a dental clinic later in the year without knowing that they were counterfeit.

Tips to avoid being screwed over by teenagers selling sex

One of the things that I noticed from watching Japanese movies and TV drama is that Japanese teens seem to be very liberal when it comes to sex, for better or worse. As I recall from reading an article a while back, the average age of young girls in Japan losing their virginity is more than 1 year younger than in most of other Asian countries. They do not only “enjoy” sex with their male counterparts, but also, once run out of pocket money, “sell” sex to older men. Despite Japanese law forbidding sex with minors (just like most countries in the world), the latter is surprisingly commonplace. So popular that there are even published tips for those who want to avoid being screwed by those teenagers. Below is an article I obtained, which is a translation of a recent Japanese article.

3 children arrested for receiving dead parents’ pensions for 15 years

OMUTA, Fukuoka — A man and his two sisters were arrested for illegally receiving their deceased parents’ pensions for at least 15 years after their mummified bodies, and those of three other siblings, were found at their home here last year, police said.

Takeshi Nagae, 70, his 59-year-old sister Chiyoko and 52-year-old sister Michiko stand accused of fraud.

They admitted to the allegations during questioning.

“We had no choice but to cheat the pension system to survive,” Takeshi was quoted as telling investigators.

Takeshi had initially said they abandoned the five bodies in the hope that they would return to life. “Since my childhood, my mother had taught me that dead people would return to life. My father died about 20 years ago, but I thought he might return to life if I continued to offer a prayer for him.”

They received more than 910,000 yen in pension payments for their father Shigeo and mother Fumiko from April 2006 to February 2007 alone without reporting their deaths to the government, local police said.

The mummified bodies of the suspects’ parents were found at their home along with those of their eldest daughter Shizuko, second daughter Yasuko and second son Keiji in April last year.

Prefectural police confirmed their identities through DNA tests. Autopsies have found the suspects’ father, who was born in 1911, is estimated to have died sometime around October 1986 while his wife born in 1915 is believed to have died around May 1992.
