Plot

Most male students head for the military barracks after finishing their first or second year in college, and many of them go through relationship troubles when they leave their girlfriends behind.

The film presents four different couples and depicts how they cope with the challenging period in a largely lighthearted fashion. The first couple is Won-jae (Jang Geun-seok), a college student who is officially in his early 20s but looks like a teenage boy, and his girlfriend Hyo-jeong (Son Tae-young), a physical therapist who is pushing 30. Apparently, their conflict revolves around their age gap, even when they remain apart due to Won-jae’s military service.

The second couple is in the same music band. Bo-ram (Jang Hee-jin), a shy keyboardist, has a crush on Min-cheol (Danny Ahn), a tall and handsome band leader who is showing affection to another female band member, even when he is in the military. The emotional tug-of-war between Bo-ram and Min-cheol is a little bit more convincing than other couples, thanks to Jang’s delicate performances throughout the film.

A very typical love triangle unfolds for the third couple: Jin-a (Yu In-young), who believes she’s the prettiest and cutest girl in the world, and her faithful boyfriend Eun-seok (Kim San-ho). When her boyfriend has begun his service, Jin-a sends him a nice gift package including what she calls “Love Candy,” but her devotion turns out to be not so solid when she feels lonely in the absence of her boyfriend and in the presence of his close friend (played by Lee Ki-woo).

But this is the fourth couple that goes to the extreme. Or the fourth girl, to be exact. Bi-ang (Han Yeo-reum) is living in her boyfriend’s house — Hur Wook (Woo Seung-min) — and she takes full advantage of his absence to seduce another man and even invites him to live with her.

Overview:
In 1375, China was in a state of chaos because of fighting between the Yuan and Ming Dynasties. The Korea Dynasty, one of Korea’s ancient kingdoms, sent a delegation of many diplomats, soldiers and a silent slave as envoys to make peace with the new Chinese Ming government. However, this delegation was accused of spying and exiled to a remote desert. On the way, they were attacked by Yuan troops who killed all the Ming soldiers, leaving only Korea warriors. The head envoy, General CHOI Jung of the Royal Guard, decides by himself that they must return to Korea. Vice Envoy LEE Ji-hun dies from the strain of the march, and tension builds between LEE’s bodyguard slave Yeosol and CHOI Jung.

After overcoming countless obstacles, the Korea warriors arrive at a peddler’s inn in the middle of the desert and run into Yuan cavalry who have kidnapped Ming princess Buyong. CHOI Jung falls in love with Buyong the moment he sees her. Meanwhile, Yeosol arrives later, dragging vice envoy LEE Ji-hun’s body. He cuts off the head of a gypsy who spits on the dead body. Yuan general Rambulhwa sees Yeosol decapitate the gypsy with one strike. Princess Furong also looks on from her wagon. Yeosol is eventually taken captive by the Yuan cavalry. CHOI Jung picks up a note from Buyong written in her blood that says ‘Help’, and he decides to rescue her so that they can get a boat bound for Korea. CHOI Jung’s aide Ganam and a warrior from the Commoner’s Army, Jinlip, oppose the idea, saying it would be futile. However, they end up proceeding with the rescue with Jinlip shooting the first arrow. Buyong is rescued, but only at the expense of many Korea warriors’ lives.

Princess Furong and the Korea warriors, whose destination is Nanjing (the old southern capital of China), arrive at the Yellow River Valley where they find all the ferry boats burned by Yuan soldiers. There they run into a group of Han tribe refugees. Furong feels empathy for her people and promises to give the warriors a boat to Korea if they take the refugees to the coast next to Mud Castle. They arrive at Mud Castle after even more trials, only to find the castle in ruins and no Ming soldiers. By this time, the Yuan soldiers have caught up with them and the Korea travelers become increasingly nervous. The underlying conflict between CHOI Jung and Yeosol over princess Buyong also deepens. Now they must choose. Give up princess Buyong or fight to the death together? The moment of truth approaches… Can they return to Korea safely?

Cherry Tomato [K-Movie]

starring:
Kim Hyang-ki, Shin Gu, Kim Byeong-choon, Choi Ji-yeon, Choi Dong-gyoon, Seo Beom-yeol
director:
Jeong Yeong-bae
102min | Genre : Drama , Family , | Release date in South Korea : May 29, 2008

SYNOPSIS :
“Cherry Tomato” depicts the poverty-stricken life of an old man and his granddaughter in a realistic way that evokes a strong sense of sympathy. But the ultimate emotion the film triggers is, for better or worse, helplessness.

The debut feature by former television producer Chung Young-bae wastes no time highlighting the key theme: poverty. Park-gu (played by veteran actor Shin Gu) is barely scraping by with his granddaughter Da-seong (Kim Hyang-ki), and their life is unbearably miserable.

Living in a shabby, rented single room, they do not have enough money to feed themselves. Park-gu works as a porter for a shopping mall in Seoul but he soon finds himself kicked out of the place. In his 70s, Park-gu tries to survive by collecting papers and recyclable material on the street, but the money he earns is always too small to buy a decent meal.

His granddaughter, 6, seems mature for her age, possibly due to her trouble-laden life. After her mother left away years ago and her father was put behind bars, she has been raised by her foul-mouthed grandfather.

Note: This movie is pretty dramatic, and has very sad ending, so if you have a weak heart, don’t watch. I don’t like the script too much, and the only reason why I post it here is because of the little girl. Her acting is great. I will not re-upload it, so download when it’s still available.

Interview

Plot:

Set in the early 16th century during the rein of Yeonsangun of Joseon , two street clowns and tightrope walkers, Jangsaeng Gam Wu-seong and Gonggil are part of an entertainer troupe. Their manager sells Gonggil’s body to the nobility, and Jangsaeng sickens of this practice. After killing their manager in defense, the pair flees to Seoul, where they form a new group of street performers.

Together the group comes up with a skit mocking some members of the Royal Court, including the king and his new Concubine.
After they are arrested for treason, Jangsaeng makes a deal with Choseon, who turns out to be one of the King’s servants, to either make the king laugh with their skit or to be killed. They perform their skit for the king, but the clowns are so scared they mess up. Gonggil and Jangsaeng barely save themselves with one last joke at the king, who laughs and then makes them part of his Court. The king falls for the effeminate Gonggil, whom he calls to his private chambers often for puppet shows. Jangsaeng becomes jealous of this time alone (though it is never explicitly stated that there is anything more than friendship between him and Gonggil - this topic of friendship/love has been much debated by film reviewers). Meanwhile, the King becomes more and more unstable and kills people as he watches plays with resemblances to his past, where his mother was publicly executed via poisoning. Jangsaeng asks Gonggil to leave with him and the gang at once before the King may kill them too out of his fits. Gonggil refuses, sympathizing with King Yeonsan.
Cast:

Lee Joon Gi — Gonggil (effeminate clown)

Jeong Jin Yeong — King Yeonsan (10th King of Joseon Dynasty)

Kang Seong Yeon — Jang Noksu (Most favored Concubine of King Yeonsan)

Gam Woo Seong — Jangsaeng (best clown friend of Gonggil)

Note: What do you get when you have 3 Martial Art Teachers In the same town with the Same Name?

Plot:
In the kung fu films of yore, the world was only big enough for one martial arts master who must defeat everyone else to claim his title. But times have changed, and in a small village in Chungcheong province, we have not one but two masters. And they have the same name! Master Kim (Choi Sung Kook, Crazy Assassins) is a kendo (fencing) expert who spends his time playing arcade games and arguing with little kids. Master Kim #2 (Shin Hyun Jun, Guns & Talks), is a Taekkyun expert who whines all day and can’t even take care of himself properly. They finally get a decent reason to live when they start fighting for the belle (Oh Seung Hyeon) of the village, the daughter of the local Chinese restaurant owner (No Ju Hyeon, Seven Princesses). But then all their efforts go in vain, when yet another Master Kim (Kwon Oh Joong, Damo) joins the fray. He looks great, fights like a star, and can even sing a mean sonata. What can you do? If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em!

Master Kims makes no secret about what its major goal is: laughs, laughs, and more laughs. And comic masters Shin Hyun Jun, Kwon Oh Joong, and Choi Sung Kook are the perfect recipe. Choi has become famous as one of the best Korean actors when it comes to making a fool out of himself, while the ad-lib prowess of Shin Hyun Jun keeps getting better. Other than sitcom regular Kwon, the film also features hilarious cameos from comedy mainstays like Lee Han Wi, Park Cheol Min, and even comedians Kim Byung Man and Jung Joon Ha. Director Park Sung Gyun has had an interesting career, having worked as assistant director for Jung Ji Young’s Naked Being and for the drama Besame Mucho and written the script of horror A Nightmare. His debut film, Master Kims, opens a new chapter in the director’s varied career.
