Synopsis / Plot
Ji-ho is a promising pianist, studying and playing abroad for years. But one night she had a stage fright and never recovers. In despair, Ji-ho comes home and meets her old classmate Sung-ryong.
Once a very bright boy, Sung-ryong had an accident and now he is in late 20s with the mind of a six year old. He is very forgetful, but he has never forgotten his first love Ji-ho. Other half of Sung-ryong’s dumb mind is occupied with his only family – younger sister Jee-in. To take care of her, Sung-ryong sells toasts in front of Jee-in’s school. But Jee-in is embarrassed of her idiotic brother and ignores him.
And Sang-soo is Sung-ryong’s old friend who understands Sung-ryong’s innocent mind. But he inevitably falls to the world of gangsters. Ji-ho is still in her slump, Jee-in falls sick and Sang-soo gets involved in a bloody dispute. But all of their agonies are miraculously saved by Sung-ryong in a way nobody has forseen.
Daejong Movie Award 2008

Movie thrillers, including the big winner “The Chaser,” garnered the most prizes at South Korea’s 45th annual Daejong Film Festival awards.
This year’s awards ceremony was held at the Seoul COEX Convention Center on Friday. The blockbuster, “The Chaser,” snatched five awards, including “Best Film,” “Best Director” and “Best Actor.”
“The Chaser,” a film about a serial murderer, was nominated for 11 different awards. It has drawn audiences of more than 5 million, and as of April, it was the most successful Korean film of 2008, according to the Korean Film Council.
“Seven Days,” a nearly all female cast film about a kidnapped child, was second in the number of nominations with 10 categories. It won awards for “Best Actress” and “Best Film Editing.”
“Shadows in the Palace,” a mystery that takes place within the palace of the Joseon Dynasty, was nominated in eight categories and grabbed the “Best Lighting” award.
The thrillers eclipsed other top movies at the awards ceremony. Other popular films such as “Secret Sunshine,” “The Happy Life” and “Happiness” were nominated in different award categories, but went home empty-handed.

Story: Gyeon-woo is a single Korean college student, still not very sure of what he wants to become in the future. She tells him to meet her right now at the exit of the metro. Gyeon-woo thinking about this, decides to go see the girl. From that night, Gyeon-woo and the girl will become good friends, in a strange sense. As the relation progresses, Gyeon-woo begins to discover how crazy the girls really is, with all her wacky behaviors, angry attitude and always wanting him to please her the way she wants, even if it mean that Gyeon-woo will pass for a complete idiot in public places or gets beaten by the girl. But even if Gyeon-woo suffer, physically and mentally, he really thinks that this beautiful girl will have some sorrow in her and he really wants to help her to get better. But at what price? [KFCC]
