Red Cliff (Chinese: 赤壁; pinyin: Chìbì), alternatively known as The Battle of Red Cliff, is a Chinese epic film based on the Battle of Red Cliffs and events during the End of Han Dynasty and immediately prior to the period of the Three Kingdoms in ancient China. The film is expected to be released in two versions: within Asia, Red Cliff is to be released in two parts totaling over four hours in length, with the first part premiering in July 2008 and the second in January 2009.[1] Outside of Asia, a single 2½ hour film will be released in January 2009.[1]

The film is directed by John Woo and stars Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Zhang Fengyi, Chang Chen, Hu Jun, Lin Chi-ling and Zhao Wei. With an estimated budget of US$80 million, Red Cliff is the most expensive Asian-financed film to date.[3]

This film is one of the two 2008 Three Kingdoms related films, the other being Daniel Lee’s Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon which has already been released.

Dang Pokute, you really are a A$$ to that Guy. I downloaded the movies he put here and I like the way they are done. You are the one who needs the attitude adjustment. And I don’t see any movies of yours here. You really have a problem, you should Pokute a tree or something, I can’t beleive the site owner lets you talk to people like that and who give stuffs here.

Viet You do a Wonderful Job and it is not your fault one got by you. But It really is a shame, I see all this wanting and criticism as if you are peoples personal Blockbuster. I don’t see much giving back here, just complaints, and when I made a offer to give an alternative, I get rude remarks, I wish you the best Viet. I deleted the fixed version of Red Cliff, I figure pokute can offer a better alternative. I have 2,300 Asian movies to take care of and 3 of my own sites to worry about than to have to deal with nonsense. Take care V live long and prosper.

I stand by what I uploaded. Most of the time, they are of good quality, as I take them from a couple of sources, and the providers KNOW what they are doing, believe me. Of course, there are very few exceptions, for example, I post it too fast, they didn’t have enough time to do QC and nuke the bad rip, etc.

W/ regard to audio/video, below is the spec. Try them:

    Video Codec ……: XviD
    Video Quality ….: 1201 kb/s
    Resolution …….: 672X272
    Audio Bitrate ….: 192 kbps
    Audio Codec ……: AC3 (2.0)
    Framerate ……..: 25 fps (PAL)

Toxist, I didn’t hear any voice neither. What Special Codec’s and Player do I need to hear it?
And Viet it’s nice if you can upload the rmvb version :P
    Thanks

ONE series that I worked on has 46,000 downloads (of the COMPLETE series - so that’s more than half-a-million files) to date. I think you need to grow some common sense AND humility.

Arghh yes you are correct my error, I was tired when I wrote that, I re-encoded it to 624 x 352 and have (so far) 58 compliments. Tks for the correction in #’s But I would never agree to a 272 scale. Unless you have eyes of a Hawk or a Super Huge monitor. Another reason for the 624 x 352 is that when converted to Rmvb it produces a Smaller file. And the Quality seems to be at its Best in that Particular Format. But the Whole point is, it is Much more versatile and accommodating for more users. And thats the main point, Sharing and Caring.
And 127,000 Downloads prove I Care. and with 1,652 movies at present, Rmvb format is the Logical choice, either that or 5TB’s of Hard Drive LOL  Tks again for spotting my misprint.

  12. pokute Identicon Icon pokute on August 4th, 2008 11:30 pm

@Toxist - It was encoded at 672×272 - Both of which are multiples of 16 as they should be (The real question is why scale at all?). Your idea of re-encoding it to 654×364 makes no sense at all, and is just plain wrong.

The encode provided here is excellent - The only gripe anyone could have with it is that it has been sped-up to 25 fps.

  13. Toxist Identicon Icon Toxist on August 4th, 2008 7:19 am

Oh and You Can’t Hear it because it is encoded in ACC 5.1 Dolby, which means most PC Video players can’t Play it. You would need Special Codec’s and Player.

  14. Toxist Identicon Icon Toxist on August 4th, 2008 6:59 am

Because the person who encoded it did it in Xvid ISO Mpeg4 762×275 is made For itunes or Play station I have finished re-encoding and Joining it to Rmvb Format to 654 x 364 at 750Mb this will Play Nice on a PC or covert to DVD via VSO converter. I will send the Link to Viet to add option to his post.

This is Hard Sub in English But…. It is 672×275 1.3Gb Gads I hate those Skinny Wide Screen movies.
Thanks to Viet for making this Available.! :D I am Busy Re-encoding it to 720×480 for a More enjoyable viewing experience. As I did in 3 Kingdoms. If I then Convert it to Rmvb then it should be around 600-800 MB with Excellent quality. If you care to have the Final Re-encode, Let Viet Know and I will Pass it over to add as an option. But you must let Viet know.

Well, those who already read the Three Kingdoms would be a little bit disapointed. The story understandably was modified or rather to get closer to “history”, I guess.

However as fa as a movie is concerned, this is quite a production. The digital effect and manipulation are above average and a litle bit over the top.

Red Cliff is the most famous battle between CaoCao and East Wu…

This first part is intendedly an introduction of all main players in the comming real Red Cliff naval batte, where fire power was a decisive strategy..

The cinematography is quite good. Histtorical costumes are amazing. I long to see the real Red Cliff Naval Battle in the second part…
    Uhmmmm 2009!!! Can’t wait…

What not to:
  • - Ask me to upload to other services: I do understand that some of you might have problems downloading from megaupload, but you should also understand that I might have problems uploading using other services. With the sheer volume of files that I upload everyday, 1) mega-manager is the only reliable uploading software, 2) megaupload is the only one which allows big enough size, 3) megaupload is the one that keeps the files alive the longest. For files smaller than 100MB, I've been using sharebee, which creates links to multiple services., and that is the biggest improvement i've seen in 2,3 years. I'm open to suggestions, but if your only comment is "please use other services because megaupload sux in my country", then don't bother.
