I’m writing this in english, since if you don’t understand english, you won’t be able to understand this song anyways. So, The female singer above is Katie Melua, who was introduced to me by someone on this blog (sorry, couldn’t remember who at this moment). I found her songs on the internet, and like this one a lot. It is called Nine Million Bicycles. If you want, listen to it, then scroll down and continue to read.

So, a scientist named Simon Singh complained that the song was scientifically misleading, … ” ..she demonstrates a deep ignorance of cosmology and no understanding of the scientific method. When Katie sings “We are 12 billion light-years from the edge”, she is suggesting … that the universe is only 12 billion years old. This is incredibly frustrating, because there are thousands of astronomers working day and (of course) night to measure the age of the universe, and the latest observations imply a universe that is almost 14 billion years old, not 12 billion.”
And what happened ? A week later, she gave him a call, told him that she was embarrassed because she’s used to be in the astronomy club in school, and modified the song. This is so funny that I have to put it in. She’s great !

i found it is hillarious. The song is nice, the lyric is lovely. And it’s adorable when se sings with the error correction. How cool she is. hope u will introduce to us more wonderful songs.

I listened this song a while ago and this song has a very beautiful melody, somehow the music has some characteristics of Chinese songs.

About Simon Singh, he is a very prominent particle physicist, and i don’t think he meant any harm. Scientists, including himself, have spent their lives trying to measure all those, so it was a bit annoying for him to see people mentioning it that way. I think he just wanted to poke in a funny way
Yep but I think he (the anal retentive scientist sorry for my language) got too serious. It is just a fun song about loving someone and starting to compare your feeling of being so much in love with anything appearing remotely related. Have you listened to her latest album yet? It is called Pictures. You ought to listen to ” If you were a sailboat” if you are currently in love or ” What I miss about you” if you are currently …out of love. Leona Lewis is another one with a very clever lyrics called ” Take a Bow”. I do like British singers. It is my predilection.
