Một số chi tiết:

- Nhân vật này tên là Kevin Crashwell, ở Anh.

- Đêm 3/3/2006, mới bị mất việc, Kevin nhậu xỉn rồi đi bộ về nhà, giữa đường lạc vô một đường ray xe lửa ở hạt Surrey, Anh.

- Kevin ngủ luôn ở đó đến sáng, mãi đến khi cảnh sát và nhân viên đường sắt đến dựng đầu dậy.

Sự may mắn của Kevin:

- Kevin nằm ngay tại giao điểm của 3 đường ray khác nhau, gác đầu lên 1 đường ray. Trong khoảng thời gian đó, có đến 4 chuyến xe lửa chạy ngang qua, có chiếc cách Kevin chỉ có chưa đầy 1/2 mét.

- Đường ray này là dành cho tàu điện, chứ không phải tàu thường. Trong 3 thanh ray, có 1 thanh dùng để truyền điện cho tàu, với điện thế 750V. (Điện bình thừong cho sinh hoạt ở VN mới chỉ 220V mà đụng vào đã chết, ở Mỹ thì còn yếu hơn, chỉ 110V). Kevin nằm co người, chân cách ray thứ ba này khoảng 5cm. Chỉ cần anh cựa quậy một tí trong lúc ngủ là lập tức bị giật thành “than”.

Hình phạt:

- Cảnh sát và nhân viên cứu hộ chỉ biết đứng bất lực nhìn, vì không ai dám vào khu đường ray có điện thế cao như vậy. Mãi cho đến khi công ty đường sắt ngắt điện của “toàn bộ hệ thống” thì họ mới dám vào kêu anh dậy. Thiệt hại cho sự ngưng trệ này ước tính khoảng 8000 ngàn bảng anh.

- Kevin Crashwell bị phạt 560 bảng Anh, và 180 giờ lao động công ích. Thẩm phán giảm hình phạt cho Kevin, vì cho rằng sự ê chề anh chuốc phải trong vòng vài tháng vậy cũng đã đủ là một hình phạt.
